Ski resorts in the CR – Krkonoše Mountains

Part 2 – Series about ski resorts in the Czech Republic.

 
The Krkonoše is the highest and the best known Czech mountain range. Its most popular ski resorts are Harrachov, Špindlerův Mlýn, Pec pod Sněžkou and Rokytnice nad Jizerou.

Harrachov (map)

is one of the most beautiful winter sports centres in the CR. The ski resort does not only offer high quality downhill slopes but also ideal conditions for cross-country skiing and ski tourism of all levels of difficulty. Harrachov is also known as a venue for ski-jumping competitions, including World Cups and World Championships. There is one lift and three chair-lifts, with a total length of downhill routes over 7 km.

Špindlerův Mlýn (map)

ski resort belongs to the 16 prestigious winter resorts of Europe, the USA and Canada where the Women’s World Cup in Alpine Skiing takes place. It is also the most visited ski resort in the CR. There are 5 chair-lifts, 11 ski-lifts and 25 km of downhill routes, 95% of them are artificially snowed. Due to the modern snow parks and U-ramp, the resort is popular with snowboarders as well.

Pec pod Sněžkou (map)

is a picturesque town known not only as the starting point for climbing the highest mountain of the Czech Republic, Sněžka (1,602 m), but also as an attractive mountain resort. There is a four-seat chairlift, 10 ski-lifts and app. 10.5 km of downhill routes of different levels of difficulty. The ski routes are especially convenient for families with children because there are a variety of slopes, from the easiest up to challenging routes for advanced skiers. A large fun park is available for snowboard lovers throughout the entire season. The Krkonoše ski backbone track for cross-country skiers is regularly maintained.

Rokytnice nad Jizerou (map)

is a ski resort in the western part of the Krkonoše that is especially attractive for downhill skiers. There are several ski resorts surrounding Rokytnice, and in total they offer 24 ski-lifts, two four-person chairlifts and over 23 km of downhill routes of all levels of difficulty.
