In the past, the cave often served as a hiding place and the numerous epigraphic inscriptions on the walls bear testimony to this (the oldest epigraph dates to 1519). The Na Špičáku Caves are the oldest documented caves in Central Europe. The first written mention was made in 1430 (by Antonius Walle).
Between 1884 and 1885, the German Mountain Club opened the cave to the public, although conditions were primitive at that time. Since 1955, the cave has been open to the public in the form we see today.
The underground labyrinth of corridors and fissures is more than 400 meters long and was created from Devonian marble (the marine sediments are 350-380 million years old). The development of the karst spaces was significantly influenced by the water from a melted glacier. This water gave the caves their final form and created the typical heart-shaped profile of the corridors.
The viewing path is 230 meters long and has disabled access.
