The Church of St. Nicholas is one of the best examples of the late Czech Gothic style.

In the year 1517, a huge fire spread in Louny, in which the whole city center was burned, including the Gothic dean's church. The architect Benedict Rejt was commissioned to build the new cathedral.Only the tower remained from the original church, which Rejt reconstructed into a three-aisle hall with a beautiful circling arch and pyramidal roof. The piece of work was finished in 1538.

The interior of the cathedral is also worth seeing. The sculptor Jeroným Kohl and his student František Preiss created a monumental altar here during 1701–06.The pulpit is a jeweled stone piece from the year 1540.

At the end of the 19th century, the church was repaired under the guidance of renowned architect Josef Mocker and Kamil Hilbert.

It is currently possible to enter the tower gallery, which has a beautiful view over the whole town of Loun and its surroundings.

Other religious buildings in the city include, St. Peter's Church from the 14th century, the Mother of God Church from the end of the 15th century and the Bohemian Brethren Church and Czechoslovak Hussite Church, well-known constructional memorials from the 1930s.
