An opera singer whose real name was Emilie Pavlína Kittlová. She chose her pseudonym on the basis of her voice teacher’s name. During the period from 1904-1921 she performed at Covent Garden in London as well as the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She sang a duet with the most famous singer of all time, Enrico Caruso, here. In 1916 she returned home, but as a patriot she was monitored by the police and suspected of espionage. She then lived privately at her mansion in Sráž nad Nežárkou, and only performed in public occasionally.
