Three international schools have been opened in the Czech Republic for children of foreigners and also Czech children who come from mixed nationality marriages and whose native languages include English. These are located in Prague , in
Brno and in
Olomouc. The school fees for these schools are quite high and range from about 100 thousand crowns per year.
Children from three years old are accepted in Olomouc, where the school also includes a nursery school, even if they cannot speak English at all. Both the abovementioned schools in Prague and Brno also include nursery schools with English-speaking teachers.
There is also a bilingual Czech British Primary School , which is an affiliate organisation of the the Prague British School , in Prague. The Czech British Primary School website states “Our goal is to provide our students with the opportunity of becoming bilingual, i.e. to become capable of speaking their native tongue as well as a foreign language perfectly and be fully competent in continuing their studies at the British Secondary School after completing the 1st level of primary school. At the secondary school students are able to complete their studies at 18 years by taking an international school leaving examination and acquiring a so-called “International Baccalaureate Diploma”, which will give them the opportunity of studying at universities in this country and also abroad”.
