(1668 – 1735)

A Czech artist of the late Baroque. In his psychologically developed portraits and altar paintings he achieved the optimum relationship between colour and light and a balanced synthesis of dramatic, epic and lyrical elements. His works include the Adoration of the Three Kings in Smíříce, Prague, the picture of All Saints in Saint Jacob’s and six altar paintings in Saint Margaret’s, the portrait of a senior clerk, F. A. Sporck and a number of self portraits.
