Since June 2011, the largest airport in the Czech Republic, the Prague International Airport – Ruzyně, can boast the prestigious Eagle Award. This winner is annually decided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The airport was awarded for its remarkable development, customer satisfaction with its services, transparent and fair attitude towards all airline companies and motivating policy. Prague International Airport gained positive references for the newly opened self-service restaurants and the support of the latest technological invention, the Wheeltug. Prague Airport is the very first airport to introduce this technology. The innovation enables airplanes to move between terminals and runways using only high-performance electric engines, while having their main engines off. The system promises many improvements such as a significant decrease of noise levels, and faster and more secure movement of aircraft in the airport area, which will also spend less time on land. That will lead to faster and more efficient transport and better working conditions for the airport staff on land. The positive attitude of Prague Airport concerning environmental issues was rewarded as well. The airport motivates the airline companies to use new quitter aircrafts and emphasises strict obedience of environment-friendly flight criteria.
Prague International Airport – Ruzyně is the first airport in central and Eastern Europe to be bestowed with the prestigious Eagle Award.
