All visitors to the X1 DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague Holešovice X1 (map) will be able to breathe in the creative atmosphere from 15th September to 18th October 2010. Visitors will be able to see an impressive multi-cultural artistic project by the Japanese-Dutch pianist and visual artist Tomoko Mukaiyama entitled Wasted.

This impressive installation, designed in cooperation with a team of young Japanese artists, represents a bright white box made from twelve thousand white silk scarves. These create a labyrinth, which visitors can enter and in which they are confronted with the phenomenon of female fertility. The installation offers a wholly unique opportunity of entering an unknown world, which evokes strong emotions and forces contemplation and self-reflection. An independent multi-media concert based on Goldberg’s variations on the basis of music by J.S. Bach is prepared to accompany the exhibition.

Tomoko Mukaiyama is a world-renowned pianist and visual artist, who is active in many prestigious orchestras and ensembles, including the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, the London Sinfonietta, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra etc. She has been active in visual arts for over ten years. She has worked with many artists, film directors, architects, designers and dancers (as well as with the Czech native choreographer Jiří Kylián). Her work has expanded into many artistic genres.

You can arrange a tour with commentary in the Czech language and also in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Norwegian, at the DOX Centre. More information is available here.
