The two certifications inform consumers that they have bought food whose larger part was produced in the Czech Republic. The Regional Food mark guarantees that the product is unique for the particular region and is distinctive with home quality.
The Czech Product mark is granted by the
Federation of the Food and Drinks Industries of the Czech Republic. The title Regional Product can be given to producers of regional specialties by the
Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic.
The objective of both projects is to support buying products made by Czech and Moravian producers and to inform consumers who often do not have a chance to know if they are buying a product from a Czech farmer or foodstuff from foreign countries. Until now the Czech Product mark was only used to show that the product had been packed in the Czech Republic.
The Regional Product mark also aims to unify quality marks from different parts of the Czech Republic. In the southern part of Moravia, products can gain the mark “Zlatá chuť” (Taste of Gold), “Perla Zlínska” (Pearl of the Zlín Region) in the Zlín Region or “Chutná hezky Jihočesky” (South Bohemian Tastes Good) in southern Bohemia.
The first foodstuffs and agricultural products displaying the regional logos will be introduced to the public at the
Bread Basket Fair in České Budějovice. You can find the list of the marked products here.
