Vision D – New Look of the Czech Skoda Brand

Skoda, the car factory in Mladá Boleslav, introduced a new design study at the occasion of the international automobile show in Geneva which revealed the new look of Skoda vehicles for the next decade. The new concept is called Vision D.

The new, five-door Vision D (D as in "design") concept is characterised by clear outlines of the body shell with well-visible edges. The front grill is more distinctive and carries a brand new glass logo. The roof and the draw-out spoiler at the rear side of the automobile are also made of glass. The headlamps and the frame-less door with sunken knobs are different as well. The combined black and white interior is decorated with design elements from Czech crystal and details in a fresh green colour. It is worth mentioning the sporty steering wheel, the non-typical control of the automatic gearbox and the LED displays installed on the rear sides of the front seats.

However, the Vision D is a design study and is not planned to be manufactured in a series. Anyway, it is a clear indication of the future Skoda orientation – and it is promising. The elements of this design concept will first be used in new models at the end of the year 2012.

At the international automobile show in Geneva, Skoda introduced the new logo and company design. Compared to the previous version, the new logo is simpler. The typical winged arrow is now bigger. The Skoda name has been removed from the graphical logo design and placed above the logo. The green tint was innovated as well. The green is fresher in order to emphasise the optimistic atmosphere and new orientation of the company.
