The CzechAccelerator is a project developed by the CzechInvest Agency. The main purpose of the project is to support and enhance development of small and medium-sized Czech technological enterprises that need strategic financial and business partners in foreign markets.

The CzechAccelerator project was launched in April 2010 within implementation of the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation 2007-2013. Its successful pilot phase ended in March 2011. A total of 10 Czech companies were involved, and due to studies in Silicon Valley in the USA, these companies gained valuable professional experience.

During the pilot phase of the project, CzechInvest closely collaborated with the Plug & Play Tech Center in Silicon Valley, a locality with over 250 start-up companies, mostly operating in the field of internet, mobile and wireless technologies and social networking. The companies have access to expert consultants specialised in company strategy and marketing, law, accounting, taxes, human resources, etc. The centre cooperates with local and international universities as well.

To qualify for CzechAccelerator 2011-2014, companies need to submit an application and meet selective criteria. The candidates should offer, first of all, innovative capacities, potential to grow in the field of information and communication technologies, biotechnologies or clean technologies. More detailed conditions for participation can be found here.

The candidates are selected by an expert team whose members are the representatives of CzechInvest, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, investors from the Czech Republic and the professional public.

Successful candidates are invited for studies abroad in order to gain expert knowledge and meet strategic technological partners. They are offered consulting (free of charge) in the field of law, intellectual property, accounting, insurance, taxes, human resources, marketing, etc.). A comprehensive overview of the benefits for selected candidates can be found here.

The CzechAccelerator project is planned until 2014. In comparison to 2010, the CzechAccelerator offer for the coming years will be larger. Every quarter, CzechInvest will send two successful applicants to Israel, Singapore and Switzerland. Three companies will also be regularly sent to the USA.

More detailed information about the project can be found here.
