photo: (sxc.hu)
From 1 January 2012, the toll payments on motorways, expressways and selected class 1 roads will newly apply for vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons in the emission classes Euro 0 to Euro IV. As for vehicles within the emission class Euro V and higher, the toll stays the same as in 2011. The price of the motorway coupons for vehicles under 3.5 tons has also been increased.
The directive data for determining the biggest allowed weight of a motor vehicle is stated in the technical licence of the vehicle. The length of the paid section and the car category, which is conditioned by the number of axles and the emission class of the vehicle, are the decisive factors in determining the
toll. You may easily calculate the toll using the calculator available
here.
You will find a detailed table of toll payments in 2012
here. The toll rates are specified by Czech Government Decree no. 354/2011 Coll.
Motorway coupons in 2012
Owners of passenger vehicles pay the toll for using motorways and expressways in the form of a paper vignette – the so-called motorway voucher. You may choose vouchers that are valid for 10 days, one month, or one year. For 2012, the motorway voucher for one year costs CZK 1,500, CZK 440 for one month, and CZK 310 for ten days. You may buy them at gas stations and post offices throughout the whole Czech Republic. The yearly motorway voucher for 2012 is valid from 1 December 2011 to 31 January 2013.
