The Třeboň Region is one of the most picturesque areas in South Bohemia. It can briefly be described as a lush area with many ponds. And it is here, in the main centre of the area, in Třebon (map), that the famous Fishery Celebrations, introducing visitors to fishery crafts, customs and traditions, take place every year.
This year the 6th annual celebrations will be held on 28th and 29th August 2010, on the last weekend of the summer holidays. As usual demonstrations of historic fishery crafts and customs and a varied programme have also been prepared for visitors this year. Visitors will be able to taste many traditional local fish dishes, for instance the typical carp fries. And guests can also look forward to other attractions as well as gastronomy. They can look forward to a fishing contest on the Rožmberk
(map) and Hradeček
(map) ponds, a cycle race through the Třeboň Region, as well as a fireworks show. The whole event will be accompanied by live music with many interesting performers.
Detailed information about the event and the programme for both days is available
here.
