In March 2012, the Academy of Design of the Czech Republic awarded the best designers and collections of 2011 for the sixth time. This year, the Designer of the Jewel of the Year category was added to the competition.

The aim of giving these annual awards is to draw the attention of the professional, as well as the general public to unique projects in the field of design. They offer a chance to appreciate and make the work of particular designers visible in media and enhance the public’s awareness in Czech design.

Apart from the usual awards, the Academy of Design of the CR elected one personality into the Hall of Fame. Other awards include the Award of the Public and the Grand Designer of the Year, who will consequently design the Award of Czech Grand Design 2012.

The awards were given in the following categories: Designer of the Year, Fashion Designer of the Year, Designer of the Jewel of the Year, Graphic Designer of the Year, Photographer of the Year, Store of the Year, Manufacturer of the Year and Discovery of the Year.
