Nannies and babysitting

Finding the ideal nanny for your children is never easy, even less so if you are living in a foreign country. You not only have to put up with the language barrier, but also the cultural differences and habits.

One does not find a nanny or governess in Czech households very often. Babysitting and upbringing in families where both parents are busy is mainly carried out by grandparents. However, foreigners are usually deprived of this option.

In the Czech Republic there are a number of agencies offering short- and long-term babysitting, tutoring, taking children to and picking them up from clubs and the like. Most of these agencies offer nannies who speak a foreign language. English, German and Russian are the most frequent.

These agencies also allow you to choose a nanny who will be employed by you and who will look after the children night and day. It is important to know that, in addition to the salary, you will have to pay the agency a mediation fee, which is usually around ten thousand crowns. The major advantage lies in that you will be offered several candidates of whom you can choose the one that fits your needs best.
