Important international organisations and media have again compiled various charts of countries for last year. See how the Czech Republic was rated.
The Czech Republic ranked 24th in the last chart compiled by the International Living magazine, which has compared living conditions in various countries worldwide for many decades. France has been first for several years now. Last year we overtook Great Britain, Sweden and Japan for the first time. These countries lost points primarily due to their high living costs.
The International Living chart is compiled on the basis of evaluation of nine areas of life: living costs, culture, economics, environment, freedom, health care, infrastructure and safety. Our country received the most points for freedom and safety and we also received a high rating for the environment, even higher than the favourite France.
Last year the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked the Czech Republic eleventh on its chart of the most peaceful countries in the world. New Zealand has the highest Global Peace Index (GPI) and according to the EIU Iraq has the lowest GPI.
