A voltage of 230/400V at 50Hz is standardised in the Czech Republic. Single-phase sockets for 230V voltage are basically made up of 3 contacts. Sockets for use in our country are distinguished by an earth pin located at the top of the socket. There are two holes below the earth pin, the left hole is intended for the live connection and the right hole is for the neutral connection, usually blue in colour. The official currency in the Czech Republic is the Czech crown, but you can pay using euro in selected store chains. However, your change will be returned in Czech crowns. If you wish to pay by card make sure that they accept your type of card in the store and that they actually perform this type of transaction. Trucks pay a toll on motorways, dual carriageways and on identified sections of class 1 roads. Toll gates are used to monitor and calculate toll fees. These gates are always located at the exits and entrances to identified sections of road. The duty of paying toll applies to all vehicles that state a greatest permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tons in their certificate of roadworthiness or registration certificate. There are no serious illnesses against which you need to be vaccinated in the Czech Republic. With regard to medication we recommend that you take medication that you use regularly with you. The dense network of pharmacies offers all standard medication from national and international manufacturers.
If you lose a passport issued in your country you, as a foreign citizen, are required to immediately notify the police station nearest the site of this loss, of the event. The police will write up a protocol of the loss. You must also inform your embassy, which will issue a temporary travel document on the basis of the protocol written up with the local police.
