The unique project was brought to life in Anděl City in Prague – Smíchov
(map) on 1 July 2009, when the first 115 of the model railway lay-out was made available to the public. The exposition is continuously developing, with the aim to present a complex miniature railroad model of the Czech Republic. After its completion, the total area of the railroad relief within the
Railroad Kingdom will occupy over 1,008 and will be the largest railroad model in not only our country, but in Central and Eastern Europe as well.
The system comprises miniature cameras in the train engines which enable visitors to take a virtual ride throughout the miniature landscape and visit several Czech dominating landmarks. On the deck of the model train, you can travel, for example, to Ještěd, Karlštejn Castle or Prague Castle. Furthermore, visitors can enjoy a local moving automobile fleet and lots of other technical inventions and gadgets. The illusion is perfect as the railroad system works day and night and the trains follow a timetable.
The Railroad Kingdom includes a permanent exhibition which presents the history of the railway and railway industry in the Czech lands. The exposition offers an educational programme for schools.
