On 16 February 2011, after four years, the National Technical Museum in Prague on Letná Plain (map) again opened its doors to the public. The reason for its lengthy closure was due to the extensive reconstruction of the building and its exhibitions. The completely new or newly installed exhibits make this a museum worthy of the 21st century.

The newly opened National Technical Museum will offer five new permanent exhibitions: The History of Transportation; Printing; Astronomy; Photographic Studio; and Architecture, Construction and Design. The exhibitions place emphasis on a modern form of presentation. Visitors can look forward to a printing workshop from the turn of the 20th century with original machines, models of some buildings and structures from the beginning of the 20th century that were never built, an exhibition of fire brigade vehicles, and a cycling exhibition.

The conference hall, vestibule, main staircase, foyers, and the outdoor car park were all reconstructed. The famous singing fountain from the 1958 Expo was installed in the building and the cinema was also reconstructed, which can now boast new amenities and excellent acoustics.

You can find more information about the National Technical Museum here.
