From 7 May to 30 October, the historical train operates every Saturday and Sunday. Its route leads from Prague - Smíchov Railway Station
(map) to Prague - Řepy Railway Station
(map) and back. On the way, which is some 8 kilometres long, the train overcomes 93 metres of total altitude so the railway is nicknamed the Prague Semmering. This nickname comes from the well-known railway in the Austrian Alps which runs through the Semmering Pass and was built as the first mountain railway in Europe.
Beautiful views of Prague are offered from the train carriages. Both history enthusiasts and lovers of nature can enjoy the ride greatly. The train rides across a railway bridge in the very centre of the city so Prague Castle
(map) or Vyšehrad
(map) can be viewed. The train goes along the
Hlubočepy Viaduct, from where you can admire the views of Prokop’s Valley
(map), then the train continues around Dívčí hrady
(map), passes the villadom Košíře
(map), goes to Stodůlky
(map) and to its terminal station, the Prague - Řepy Railway Station
(map).
