Can I obtain a grant for studying in the Czech Republic?

State scholarships for studying at public universities in the Czech Republic are established on the basis of a resolution by the Czech Republic government within a joint project by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Physical Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). The MFA announces the available scholarships every year through its representative offices abroad to the official institutions of the state accepting Czech developmental aid. Citizens of these states can apply for a Czech Republic state scholarship if they fulfil the conditions specified by the Instructions for acknowledgement of these scholarships. Do I have to have health insurance before starting to study in the Czech Republic?

Unless the student is a participant of the Czech public health insurance system or comes from an EU state (and this is also required by our legislation – Act no. 326/1999 Coll., on residence of foreign citizens in the Czech Republic) the student should have health insurance for cases when he needs to visit a doctor, have a medical examination or a medical procedure performed.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Physical Education supports tuition of the Czech language and literature abroad by means of 52 lectureships (47 European and 5 outside Europe) established with predominantly university type educational institutions in 25 countries worldwide.
