Tomáš Baťa, 91, testified on Monday in court in order to achieve the cancellation of the verdict against his uncle. He said that he believed that justice would win.
The City Court cancelled the National Court's verdict and returned the case to the state attorney for further investigation.
Tomáš Baťa submitted new evidence reportedly proving that the J.A. Baťa's trial before a Czechoslovak court in 1947 was manipulated.
J.A. Baťa allegedly supported the Czech resistance movement organised from abroad.
Under J.A.Baťa (1898-1965), the Baťa shoe company further expanded and it contributed to the development of Zlín, its seat in south Moravia.
After the Czech Lands were occupied by the Nazis in 1939, J.A.Baťa escaped abroad. He wanted to settle down in the USA but as the USA refused to extend his visa, he transferred his firm's seat to Brazil.
Three years before his death in 1965 he gave up his stake in the firm in favour of Tomáš Baťa.
Apart from J. A. Baťa's relatives, regional politicians in Zlín want to clean his name as well.
